Blue Air bought Air Moldova, ENGLISH VERSION no 171

Beginning of October the company Civil Aviation Group acquired Air Moldova – the national carrier of Republic of Moldova. Civil Aviation Group SRL , formed by the Romanian private carrier Blue Air, and a group of Moldavian investors, offered for the privatization of Air Moldova 50 million Moldavian lei, also taking over debts of the company of 1,2 billion Moldavian lei.

“We are proud that Air Moldova joined the Blue Air family and we are happy to be here, in the year of the Centenary. The international success of Blue Air at the future of Air Moldova. We will carry on the name of the company with the hope that it will become the pride of all Moldavians and theyr first travel option”- said Marius Puiu, general director of Blue Air.

The travel trend of the last five years shows that the number of Romanian tourists that choose, besides a summer holiday, some extra 2-3 days city breaks has doubled. The 8th round for VINTEST Bucharest

The Ion Mincu Architecture and Urbanism University and Vinvest organize the 8th Edition of the Vintest wine show, which will take place this year between 7 and 9 December. The exhibition will bring together all wine regions of Romania, creating a symbolic union of wine brands as to celebrate the 100 years since the creation of the State of Romania in 1918. The university will host an interesting series of debates and presentation that will be centered on the evolution of Romanian wine, cellars and brands, in the last 100 years. The 8th edition of Vintest “continues the campaign we started five years ago I Love Romanian Wine. This time we will be writing together the story of 100 Romanian wines for 100 years” – said Lucia Pârvu, the event organizer. Traveller Magazin is one of the main media partners of the wine show.

+2 for ORBIS

Orbis Hotel Group signed a management agreement with Liwa Properties SRL (ABS Holdings) for an ibis Styles hotel in the vicinity of the International Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest. Due to open beginning of 2019 ibis Styles Bucharest Airport will have 85 rooms.

In 2020 Orbis will open in Timisoara an Ibis unit with 200 rooms and apartments, restaurant, bar, lounge, conference facilities and its own parking. Orbis and its local partner, Hotel Development S.A., signed a 15 years agreement.“Through bringing Ibis to Timisoara, we reinforce our leading position in Romania. I am sure that this brand, known and appreciated internationally, with the regional support of Orbis, will make Timisoara more visible on the travel market as a destination” said Gilles Clavie, Orbis president. “We are happy to be joining Accor Hotels through introducing the ibis brand in Timisoara, a brand wits a contemporary design that will complete the hotel market of the city” – said Emil Cristescu, one of the shareholders of the newly created company Hotel Development S.A. The construction of the new hotel requires over 10 million Euros. The Cristescu family also administrate other hotel units: Timisoara and Nord in Timisoara, Timisoara hotel in Sanicolaul Mare and the Arsenal Park in Orastie.

5% VAT for hotels

In the fall of 2018 the Romanian Government has promoted several actions in order to make the travel market in Romania more attractive. The first measure adopted is: starting November 1st a reduced 5% VAT will be applied to services such as hosting in hotel rooms or units with similar function, renting camping ground, restaurant units and catering services, sport activities. Serving alcohol, except beer, is not included in the new tax scheme. The second change envisions the spa sector, through eliminating taxation on the use of thermal and natural mineral waters used for public consumption (such as baths) or at public springs. The sector is in an urgent need of such reinforcement as a third of the thermal and mineral in Europe are to be found in Romania.
