LONELY PLANET: Transilvania is the favorite destination of 2016
Lonely Planet announced recently the „Best in Travel 2016” previsions. The region of Transylvania in Romania sits on the first place in the Top 10 regions to be visited in 2016, being followed by West Iceland, Valle de Vinales (Cuba), Friuli (Italy), Waiheke Island (New Zeeland), Auvergne (France), Hawaii, Bavaria (Germany), Costa Verde (Brazil) and St. Helena (in the Atlantic Ocean). The three countries to visit are Botswana, Japan and USA and the must see cities are as follows: Kotor (Montenegro), Quito (Ecuador) and Dublin (Ireland). Lonely Planet is the largest travel guides publisher, property of BBC Worldwide trust.

SIBIU – 6th out of 100
The annual Best Value Index offered by Trivago selected, for the third year in a row, the city of Sibiu in Transylvania – Romania. Sibiu ranks number 6 among the top 100 most conveniant cities to be explored in 2016 In the last editions Sibiu had been selected in top 20 of the places offering the best balance price-quality worldwide, together with Brașov and Eforie Nord – but for next year it remained the only recommendation. The evaluation provided by Trivago is based on a minimum of 50 B&B properties rated, with at least 150 comments and feedbacks provided by customers.
Next stop: JORDAN

”We love Romanians because they are friendly people and good tourists”. This is how Nayef Al Fayez – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Kingdom of Jordan – started his speech, at an event ment to promote his country as a travel destination for the Romanian market. The B2B meetings of the tour-operators from both countries where mixed with presentations of the main attractions of Jordan: Petra – the pink city, Aqaba – the blue resort, Wadi Rum – the red desert, Jerash and Amman. The event took place at Grand Hotel JW Marriott in Bucharest and was hosted by Attila Toth, director of Condor Airlines Office in Budapest.
THE GUARDIAN: ”Bucharest surprizes with its cosmopolite vibration!”

The Brittish juornalist Norm Longley published recently in The Guardian a review on the city of Bucharest in which he recommends several attractions of the Capital City of Romania. Among his favorites he mentions The Palace of Parliament, The Village Museum and the Cărtureşti Book Store in Lipscani area. ” It’s fair to say that Bucharest is unlikely to win any awards for beauty or style, yet the Romanian capital surprises many first-time visitors with its cosmopolitan vibe and energy” says Longley, also commenting on the nick-name given to the city during the period between the wars: Bucharest – Paris of the east that „ was accurate, up to a point”.
SINGAPORE – one smile closer

The Inter-Continental Hotel in Bucharest recently hosted a presentation offered by travel specialists from Singapore to the Romanian travel agents and journalists. Singapore Airlines, Singapore Changi International Airport and Singapore Tourism Board where the hosts of the event. Although Otopeni International Airport is not connected directly with Singapore and one must fly via Istanbul, the number of Romanian travellers towards this destination is steadily growing. ”There is a great potential and this is why we are preoccupied in developing and promoting the image of this unique destination. Changi Airport is a business card, connecting 78 countries and 365 cities, and holding over 460 awards for its architecture, rooftop gardens and pools. Also Singapore – the garden city is celebrating its 50th anniversary! These are only two arguments to visit the country” – said in his presentation Selcuk Demir, Sales director of Singapore Airlines in Turkey.
PARK INN by Radisson- a new success
Olivier Harnisch – Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rezidor Hotel Group, Arno Schwalie – Area Vice President Central Europe and Bert Fol – General Manager Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest and Park Inn by Radisson Bucharest Hotel & Residence opened in the Capital City of Romania the first hotel in the coutry belonging to the chain Park Inn by Radisson. The representatives of Carlson Rezidor spoke about the vibrant spirit of the Park Inn hotels brand. ”We are happy to open the first Park Inn by Radisson in Romania. The rooms are stilished, elegant, offering in the same time comfort at the highest standards. I am convinced that Park Inn will lead the market on its segment” – said Bert Fol. The hotel offers 210 rooms and appartments, 4 conference rooms, a Fitness Centre, restaurant and the Sharkia Bar etc. The total investment was of about 6 milion euro.
