Târgu Jiu, the capital city of Gorj County, received in october The Golden Apple Award, from the International Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET). This year the award went to the Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuşi. The artist is considered the most important sculptor of the XX-th century and among the most talented artists of all time. Brâncuşi created in Târgu Jiu his only outdoor monument ensemble, unique not only in Romania, but worldwide – Hero’s Way Monument. Built between 1937-1938, this symbol of Gorj county spirituality and Romanian genius consists of three main works – Table of Silence, The Gate of Kiss and The Column of the Infinite, popularly known as The Endless Column.
Romania is now ranked number one in the International top of FIJET together with Spain (with 5 Golden Apples), being followed by Egipt, Croatia and Belgium (all with 4), Russia and Turkey (with 3) etc. The distinction Golden Apple is given anually to one or more great destinations or personalities of the industry, being considered the Oscar prize of the international travel media.

The Corvin Castle in Hunedoara is among the first five holiday destinations in Romania, according to TripAdvisor. The votes came from the tourists that have visited this medieval residence during the year and so TripAdvisor offered it an Excellencee award for 2014.

Built in the 15th century by de Ioan de Hunedoara, the castle impresses due to its massive but elegant towers and bastions. In 1974 the complex became a museum and last year over 300.000 vizitors opened its gate, enjoying the resaturation works and the new facilities. „The tourists can choose to receive explanations using a multimedia guide, which is installed on several tablets placed along the museum rooms but can also be downloaded on the smartphone, using the wi-fi available in the castle” – said Costin Tinca, director of the Museum.

Andreea Piştea Ionescu from the Romanian Aeroclub represented Romania in the parachute contest that took place in the californan Perris Valley (USA). She participated in establishing two world records in free fall: Women’s Sequential World Record 117 way / 2 points (world record for women) and Overall Sequential World Record 117 way / 2 points (mix world record). The event gathered 117 parachute divers from 24 countries. Andreea Piştea Ionescu counts with over 18 years of experience in this sport and has previously participated in several world premieres, as for example when making the largest „diamond” formation in free fall – said George Rotaru, general director of the Romanian Aeroclub.

BLAXY – 5 stars All Inclusive

Next year the Turkish business man Oguz Yilmazwil will inaugurate in Romania the Blaxy 5 starts holyday complex, located in the Constanta County, in 23 August seaside resort. The project offers 900 apartments, a 5 stars hotel, pools, restaurants, bars, clubs and sport grounds all the facilities being gradually opened till 2016. According to the plans of the developers the hotel will have approximatively 400 rooms and will also have a Business Center, Health Club, Spa and a covered pool. The services offered will be All Inclusive style. Blaxy resort boasts a private beach of 9.000 sqm, amphitheatre for shows, a private parking on 13.000 sqm, the total investment being estimated at approximately 100 million euro.

The Kingdom of Marocco had an exclusivit promotion event in Bucharest. This was offered to the media by the Embassy of Marocco, represented by ES Faouz El Achchabi, and by Khalid Mimi, the director of The National Office for Tourism of Morocco for Poland and Eastern Europe. The officials spoke about the uniqueness and highlights of places such as Rabat, Fes, Meknes and Marrakech and introduced several ideas on how to relaunch a successfull partnership between the two countries in diffrent domains, but especially tourism related. “This sector is ranked number two in the economic structure of the country, regarding the national income and the distribution of labour on the market” – said the ambassador. At his turn Mimi said that “the economic prognosis for 2020 shows 20 million visitors. From that perspective we wish to be among the most important worlwide travel markets. In order to reach this goal Marocco produced a plan that aims to now growing markets in Eastern Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America. Our country focussed on diversiffying the tourism offer in order to appeal to foreign visitors but also on the flight connections, by signing partnerships with several low cost opperators”.

Romania’s Tourism Fair and Romhotel – the International Exhibition for Hotel Equipment where held between 13th and 16th of November at Romexpo in Bucharest. The travel show gathered over 200 companies from Austria, Bulgaria, Cuba, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Moldova, Palestine, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Hungary. They covered with the tempting offers over 7.600 square meters. In Romhotel participated 80 Romanian and also foreign companies, which exhibited the newest technologies but also shared information on modern style of management for the hotels and restaurants.
