Athenee Palace in Bucharest, today part of the international Hilton chain, was opened in 1914. Works have been conducted for two years, according to the plans of French architect Teophile Bradeau. The building, located in the centre of the city was the first to be edified as reinforced concrete structure in Romania. The building had 149 rooms and 10 apartments decorated in Louis XIV style, model inspired by similar complexes in France and England.

The English bar, brasserie and restaurant in Athénée Palace were the most frequented places in interwar years. Famous names have been hosted here – from royalty to prime-ministers, ambassadors, football stars such as Marco Van Basten or Edwin Van der Sar, music stars, including Joe Cocker, Sting and Rolling Stones, or the American president Richard Nixon etc. the hotel offers 272 rooms today.
NICOLAE VOICULEŢ: Unique concert on Caraiman

On Cross Day, the monument “National Heroes Cross” on Caraiman Mountain (Prahova county) witnessed an unique event in the history of music. The artist Nicolae Voiculeţ gave with his special guests – including the Tulnic singing Women’s Ensemble of Avram Iancu village of Apuseni Mountains and Calusari Ensemble of Slatina -, a homage concert for the more than one million national heroes, fallen in the two World Wars, on the anniversary of 100 years from waging of the First World War. In the evening of the same day, Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni hosted the charitable concert “Romania, from your heart”. Traveller Magazin was one of the media partners of the manifestation.
Romania at FIJET World Congress
Budapest, capital of Hungary, hosted the 56th Congress of the International Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers (FIJET). The representatives of more than 750 FIJET members of the five continents, including the Romanian delegation, also marked, between the 5th and the 11th of September 2014, the anniversary of 60 years since the incorporation. In 1954 three editors from France, Belgium and Italy created the federation now called FIJET. And it has about 750 members. Another 3 new countries announced their adherence to the organization – Hungary, Bosnia – Herzegovina and Morocco. The attending journalists documented in Budapest, Pecs, Kalocsa, Villany, Balaton, etc. the Romanian delegation, led by Marian Constantinescu – the president of the Travel Press Club – FIJET ROMANIA, received the Fijet anniversary medal – 60 years for contribution to the development and promotion of tourism.
BZN – musical ambassador of tourism

The Dutch group BZN announced, during a press conference, the release of the video “Our Roads” where the image of the famous Romanian musician Dan Spătaru appears. BZN (Jan Keizer & Anny Schilder) recoded this video in Romania, in a splendid location, Peleș Royal Castle. The song will be presented by BZN band in a concert on the 4th of December at Sala Palatului in Bucharest. Anny and Jan hope that “the audience will be thrilled and record a new BNZ success in Romania, after Blue Eyes and Dance Dance!” The tours is organized by the company German Quality Entertainment, led by the German agent Christian Raetscher born in Romania.
ACTIVISM, TRADITIONS AND TOURISM

The festivities dedicated to South African Women’s Day and Traditions Day gave substance to a manifestation that also marked 20 years of democracy. They have been developed in collaboration with the Romanian Diplomatic Institute. The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Bucharest ES Thenjiwe Ethel Mtintso, has been the ideal host for the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, press and Romanian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Liliana Burlacu), Ministry of Labor (Rovana Plumb), European Commission in Bucharest (Angela Filote), volunteers in the field of women activism. The subject’s generosity offered the occasion to Ambassador Mtintso to launch the invitation to visit the country she represents. Her costume expressed the traditions of the region Kwazulu Natal, spectacular and unique, emanating the hospitality of this people.
BRAŞOV – TWF 2nd edition
Exhibition centre Braşov Business Park in the city at the foot of the mountain will host between the 7th and the 9th of November the second edition of the event “Transylvania Wine Fair”, in the same “directing” insured by Kron-Tour Expo Fairs & Exhibitions. Thus, Brasov will become for a few days a “Capital of Wine”.
