OUR INTERVIEW:

DUMITRU BURTEA: “The Romanian chefs are real ambassadors of taste !”

„My dream, not achieved yet was to incorporate in Romania a Gastronomy Academy. The rank of Romania would thus increase. The young generation would have thus an additional motivation to accede to a career. A gastronomy academy is not a utopia. In order to incorporate it, the efforts of ANBCT and Euro-Toques are not enough. One mainly needs a national consolidation, willingness and deep understanding of phenomena by the governors. We stick on our business since you cannot maintain respectability in the world if you do not participate to international competitions.  The Romanian cooks, pastry-cooks and confectioners acted as such at Vienna, Salzburg, Moscow, Kremlin, Glasgow, Milan, Basel, Istanbul, Tokyo, Kyoto, Auckland, Erfurt, Lucerne, Luxemburg, Torino, Helsinki and Lyon, from where I returned recently.”
Dumitru Burtea is a living legend of national and international gastronomy. Burtea is the only Romanian from all times elected, 15 years ago, member of honour of World Association of Chefs Societies – WACS. Today, he is the president of honour of ANBCT and president of Euro-Toques Romania. Before 1989 he was the general manager of ONT Braşov, and the talent of his team provided a unique charm to some places such as Şura Dacilor, Coliba Haiducilor, Cerbul Carpatin, Stâna Turistică, Cetate etc.
