Confort Traian became RIN Central
After a rebranding in the RIN Hotels Company the former hotel Confort Traian, located in the vicinity of Traian market in Bucharest, changed into RIN Central, rated three stars. The building has been completely remade, requesting about one million euro. As Otilia Demian, development director of RIN Group, said: “the new hotel has 107 brand new and modern rooms (51 doubles, 55 matrimonial, 1 apartment). They offer superior comfort, intimacy. The Vivere restaurant – with a capacity of 90 persons and a varied menu of Romanian and International specialties -, successfully completes the new services.” For organizing conferences and meetings RIN Central offers a Conference centre with four modern rooms, totalizing 275 seats.

The Champion Lucian Bute promotes Romania
The world champion Lucian Bute (welterweight boxer, IBF version) said in a press conference that, at his first game in Romania, he will be boxing, wearing the signs of the national tourist brand. The gala will take place July 9th in Bucharest.
“I express my satisfaction regarding the collaboration of the Ministry with Lucian Bute. It is an inspired decision. We will stand next to him as we are convinced that it will be a grand how, that will lead to a new victory” – said the Minister of Tourism, Elena Udrea. At his turn Lucian Bute said: “Since I became world champion I had this wish, to defend my belt in Romania. It is a dream that now comes true. I have always promoted Romania and I will do it again, even more, due to this protocol with MDRT.” The contract signed for promoting Romania is valid for all games of Lucian Bute, all along 2011.

IS SURE: DoubleTree in Ploieşti
The event is announced for this spring. Hilton Worldwide signed the agreement for developing in franchise the DoubleTree in Ploieşti. The project of hotel conversion will be ready in 2011, after the remake of the actual hotel. The Romanian partner is SC Valdor SRL, a company owned by the businessman Doruleţ Morcovescu. The hotel has a capacity of 242 rooms, two restaurants and bar with terrace, fitness centre, a pool and a spa and health centre, business centre, etc. „We budgeted in Romania considering the country an important market in our European development plans” – said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president for development in Europe and Africa of Hilton Worldwide.
The city of Ploieşti (Prahova County) is an industrial centre in South of Romania, targeted mainly on the petroleum production and refining. It is located 45 kilometers away from International Henri Coandă Airport in Bucharest.

OTOPENI: a 60 million euro terminal
At the end of March the International Henri Coandă Airport in Bucharest became larger, due to the opening of its new terminal. The inauguration of this facility is the third phase of a development plan that started in August 2009. The value of the investment is of 60 million euro. The new terminal has been projected also in order to satisfy the requests of the Schengen space. The number of gates went up: from 5 to 14. At the moment the facility offers 24 final check-in points (previously there where only 9). The total surface of the airport is now of 24.000 sqm.
Anca Boagiu, Romanian Minister of Transportation said with the occasion of the opening: “If in 2005 there where 3 million passengers, in 2010 almost 5 million people used this airport. The studies of Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) for 2011 (that include Băneasa Airport traffic of about two million passengers) show a 7.250.000 passenger traffic, and for 2015, some 12 million passengers.”

SFO gets ready for show
The largest travel industry trade show in North America will be held this year in San Francisco, May 21st-25th. Inside Moscone Center will meet over 5000 people from more than 1000 U.S. travel organizations operators and agencies worldwide.
International Pow Wow was last held in San Francisco in 1992. As many things changed since then in the tourism history of the city participants will have the chance to experience iconic attractions like Golden Gate Bridge, Union Square or special activities (new museums and districts, restaurants). Some of the evening events will be held in PIER 39 or by de Young Fine Arts Museum. “For San Francisco’s tourism industry, this is the most valuable event we could have,” said San Francisco Travel President and CEO Joe D’Alessandro. Pre and post International Pow Wow tours of California are being organized by the California Travel and Tourism Commission, and they will lead travel professionals in discovering the secrets of some of the best tourist destinations in U.S. More than 400 international and domestic travel journalists will also attend the event, among which the representatives of Traveller Magazin, participants in Pow Wow for the last 12 years.

Excellency Aeronautic Centre in Snagov
Anca Boagiu, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister, announced the creation of a regional Excellency Centre for preparing and testing the civil aviation staff. The decision comes in a time when the Romanian civil aviation is paying expensive classes in other European countries in order to instruct its members. It will also remind and strengthen the important regional role of the Romanian aviation services. The project is consolidated by Romanian Civil Aviation Authority (AACR), Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration (ROMATSA), TAROM and Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB). The Romanian Aviation Academy and The Romanian Aeroclub will also sustain the new institution that will have its headquarters in Snagov.

Tarom and Airbus will make bio-kerosene
A project that will be developed in Romania states that the country will produce and commercialize bio fuels for aerial transportation. Bio-kerosene will be produced in a partnership of the national carrier TAROM and the constructors of AIRBUS, together with a group of investors. “This is the first European project that will unite farmers, refineries and a carrier in sustaining the use of bio fuels” – says, in a press release, Paul Nash, director for alternative energy of Airbus. There are no details yet on the place of the production or possible costs.
