The 20th edition of GEORGE ENESCU Festival

The Austrians of Gewinn economic magazine included George Enescu International Festival in their selection of most important cultural and musical events of the year. The recommendation of the magazine comes together with a picture of the concert hall of the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. They also give hints on accommodation and prices in the city.
George Enescu International Festival is a cultural event dedicated to classical music, having Ioan Holender as a director. It takes place every two years and, in 2011, it reaches the 20th edition. The Festival will take place September 1st- 25th and will be honored by the participation of Vienna and Israel Philharmonic Orchestras, directed by Zubin Mehta, the Santa Cecilia, London, or French orchestras etc.

Dacian and Swiss
The Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilizations in Deva (Hunedoara county) and The Romano-Swiss Multimedia Institute started their collaboration in the South-East Archeritage. The project has as a theme promoting historical sites dating back to the era of the Roman Empire, which presently are located in Italy, Romania, Russia and Tunisia. The museum in Deva received from the European Commission 20.000 euro for promoting the local tourist attractions and the accommodation facilities in the area. The main theme of the campaign is water in general, and thermal water more specifically. The project started in December, with a National Atelier, organized by the museum. “Brochures in English and the languages of the participating countries are in plan, as well as a specialized web page. The Romanian team will participate with the project in a tourism fair that will be held in Naples area” – said Oana Tutilă, archeologist of The Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilizations.

Iosefin Residence – got “Very Clean Hotel”

Opened almost one year ago the apart-hotel Iosefin Residence in Timişoara is already appreciated by the international guests. The latest congratulation came from Expedia-Venere.com, member of Expedia Inc. Company. As Matteo Cellini, leader of Venere.com says: “ApartHotel Iosefin Residence has been recognized as a very clean hotel by the worldwide travelers of Venere.com. The distinction <Very Clean Hotel> has been given according to the appreciations and the feedback of the tourists that have used this hotel”.
Nicu Ţone, manager of ApartHotel Iosefin Residence, says that this confirms the work of a young and dynamic team: “it shows our devotion for the tourists that have visited Timişoara. The prize comes little time after the opening of the multifunctional <Iosefin> Center. This new facility was designed for the business segment. We offer several conference rooms, the largest one having 100 seats, as well as smaller rooms for 15-30 people, ideal for seminars, meetings etc.”

Excellence prize in Munich

Romania received, at the tourism fair in Munich, the Excellence Prize for the concept of its exhibition and the attractive presentation of the national tourism brand – explains a press release of the Ministry of Tourism and Regional Development.
The distinction was decided and awarded by a jury composed of members of the Bavarian media and important tourism actors. The Romanian stand attracted the public and the travel specialists „due to the elegance of the design and the visual expressivity. In the same context, the BR TV channel (Bavarian television) presented a generous documentary about the attractiveness of Romanian tourist destinations.” The campaign for promoting the national brand continued at the beginning of March at IT Berlin, one of the most important European travel fairs

PARADOX
More hotel projects in 2010

Last year was not a good year for hotel investments. But, according to IBC Focus, the number of projects for lodging facilities was three times higher than in 2009, reaching 905. Out of these projects 464 have a plan, 384 are under construction and only 57 are still in the auction phase. Most of the projects, 23%, regard the central part of Romania, 17% are in north-east, and 13% in each of the south-east and north-west areas. Only 4% of the total number of projects regards the capital city. The majority of the investments announced on this lodging and hosting segment require less than 1 million RON, being small hotels, pensions, hostels and tourist villas

Romania and Bulgaria make plans
Over 50 tourist sights in Dobrogea (Romania) and Dobrich (Bulgaria) regions will be promoted in a common European project, totalizing 420.000 euro investment. The plan states the creation of five tourist routes that will focus on history and culture, crafts, ecology, gastronomy and event-festivals. Eight experts (four out of each country) will create the products that will be promoted through brochures – said Ion Dănuţ Jugănaru, general director of The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Navigation and Agriculture of Constanţa. Other institutions parts of the project are: Ovidius University, Ovidius High school in Constanţa and the International College and the History Museum in Dobrich. Radisson Blu is Hotel of The Year

Being the largest 5 stars hotel in Romania (718 rooms) and in the same time the biggest in the region, the Radisson Blu in Bucharest, was named Hotel of the Year in the global appreciation of the American Carlson chain of hotels. The title was given in the Carlson annual conference, held in Washington, and awards the great performances of the staff and management, mirrored in the satisfaction level of the clients and in the economic performances. 1st Gastro Festival of… artichoke

The Self restaurant in Bucharest was the host of the first Gastro Festival in Romania dedicated to the artichoke. Known in Italy as carciofo the plant has been used in cooking since antiquity. Its capital city is considered to be the Sicilian Niscemi, where the cultivation of the plant started somewhere around 1850. Govanni Di Martino, mayor of Niscemi believes that “a visit in the region must include, above historical sights, an experience of local gastronomy, quality food and the great wines made near Etna”. Gheorghe Răcaru – development director of Romstrade-Blue Air Group (that administrate through a branch the Self chain of restaurants) said: “Blue Air, company that covers several destinations in Italy, keeps sustaining such events, the gastronomy of the two countries opening great perspectives to the tourism product”.

The central point of the evening was the excellent stuffed artichoke, a specialty appreciated alike by the travel agents, diplomats, business people and journalists presents at the event.

REVISTA TRAVELLER MAGAZIN MARIAN CONSTANTINESCU – Redactor Şef Marian Constantinescu s-a născut pe 24 aprilie 1953, în Bucureşti. Absolvent al Liceului “Aurel Vlaicu” (1972). Licenţiat în ziaristică. A lucrat la Agerpres, Tineretul Liber, Curierul Naţional, Ziua, ocupând poziţii de la redactor, şef departament, redactor şef până la director de promovare.
