CORIERRE DELLA SERA: „Alba Iulia is a model in tourism marketing!”
The Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera published an article about the changes that took place at Alba Iulia in Romania, focusing on the fabulous renaissance of this city from the tourism point of view. ”The citadel Alba Carolina – restored with over 50 million euro, European funds, proves to be a model” – writes Guglielmini Fabrizio. ”Alba Iulia is a small city but with an overwhelming history” says Nicolae Moldovan, City Manager, in the article, pointing some results of the money invested: the remaking of 12 kilometers of fortification walls, over 400.000 visitors per year, the frequent using and mentioning of the city brand The Other Capital City. The writer talks about the importance of the agreement with the World Bank over the financial plans of the city and underlines the great connection of the Alba Iulia with Sibiu International Airport that is located only 70 km away.
Corriere Della Sera is the oldest and most popular Italian newspaper. The first edition was published March 5th 1876 and today counts about 400.000 daily issues.
What is new at BLUE AIR ?
Starting October 25th Blue Air will fly two times a day from Bucharest to Iaşi. The connection will benefit from the using of modern Boeing 737 aircraft. As a consequence to this route opening the company announced three new flights from Iaşi. The cultural capital of the region of Moldova will now be connected directly with Rome, Paris and London. ”The Iaşi International Airport is the 5th operational hub of Blue Air and the opening of these three new routes shows our belief in the development potential of this region. Londra and Paris will fly two times a week and Rome three times” – said Gheorghe Răcaru, general director of Blue Air.
EUROLINES Group is 20!!
This summer Eurolines celebrates its 20th year of existence. The Group is now composed of 20 companies that totalise about 100 million euros turnover per year. Going back in the history we trace the lines of this business story: in 1995 the first two travel agencies of the future Group opened in Bucharest and Frankfurt, the first three busses started connecting regularly Romania and Germany; in 2004 was bought Nova Travel, the first travel agency in Romania, opened in 1990, now the outgoing tour-operator of the Group; in 2011 came the signing of the partnership with TUI and the aquisition of Danubius Travel in Constanţa, one of the largest incoming tour-operators in Romania, opened in 1991. This celebration year marked further expansion of the Group through the aquisition of the Green Village Complex located in St. George (Danube Delta – Romania).
COOPERATION: Cross borders SPA packages
Next year Romania and Bulgaria will offer together a unique concept of spa packages, the products being the core of a project financed by European Union. The idea was presented at the Congress of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism that took place in the Bulgarian city of Sandanski. The programme „Roman Spa Thermal centers in Europe” reunites associations and resorts in Romania, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Greece.
The programmes offer the tourists the possibility of travelling and enjoying spa treatments in two resorts, one in Romania and one in Bulgaria. Out of the eight days the first ones will be spent in Băile Herculane (Romania), the visitors will then see Sofia, Varset, Plovdiv – Cultural capital of Europe in 2019 – in Bulgaria and be hosted in the resort of Hisaria.
The general secretary of The European Spa Association (ESPA), Joachim Lieber, coordinator of the project said that this is the first cross border product and clients will be able to book it on-line.

ROMANIA and LASZLO FERECZ – European vice-champions
Romanian pilots rocked the sky at the 9-th FAI European Advanced Aerobatic Championships that took place in Deva-Săuleşti, being organized by the Romanian Aero club and the The World Air Sports Federation. Laszlo Ferencz came second in the individual ranking and the Romanian pilots’ team came second after France but before the teams of Ukraine, Russia, Great Britain, Poland, Lithuania and Switzerland.
In the Competition participated 12 of the best world pilots. The individual ranking was: 1. Jean-Max Vautier – France – 10041,33 points; 2. Laszlo Ferencz – Romania – 9979,66 points; 3 Benoit Fact – France – 9794,28 points. The teams ranking was: 1. France – 29542,49 points; 2. Romania – 28380,61 points; 3. Ukraine – 28346,32 points. The Romanian team was composed of Laszlo Ferencz, Dan Ştefănescu, Andrei Şerbu, Cristian Iorgov and George Rotaru.
These are the best results that Romania ever obtained in its entire history of air sports. At the last edition of FAI Romania held only the 5th place.
