The touristic traffic has increased by 5.1%
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has communicated in the global report that, in 2013, the Romanian tourism registered an overall contribution of 5.1% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The 1.71 million foreign tourists, who visited last year Romania, the majority for business, spent 4.79 billion lei (1.08 billion euro). The overall receipts from tourism in 2013 were of 33.1 billion lei. With such income, we barely occupy the 154 position in the global classification. For this year, WTTC estimates an increase by 5.4% of overall contribution of tourism to GDP, followed by an average rate of increase by 3.8% per year, up to 2024, to 50.8 billion lei.

According to Eurostat the number of nights spent by foreign tourists in the lodging structures from Romania increased last year by 5.1%. They spent in our country 3.5 million lodging nights.
MESHEK WINGS entered on City Break

The tour operator Meshek Wings Tours Ltd, one of the first 10 travel companies in Israel, has announced the introduction on Romanian market of City Break packs in Bucharest. Based on an estimation, announced during a meeting with the press, in the first year of operation will be brought to our country, only for this product, around 3.600 Israeli tourists. In the top of the attractions preferred by them in the Capital of Romania appear: Historical Center, Herastrau Park, Nights of folklore (mainly those organised at the restaurants Pescaru?, Voievodal, City Grill), respectively the days dedicated to shopping.

Meidan Butnaru, commercial manager of Meshek Wings Tours Ltd stated that the ”Project for 2014, newly started, is created with out flight partners Blue Air and targets mainly the city break packs on Bucharest, trips on Prahova Valey, already in progress, as well as sojourns on Romanian littoral by direct flights Tel Aviv – Constan?a, since June. We expect, based on the registrations up to present, to bring in Romania, a total of around 8.500 tourists, out of which 2.500 on Prahova Valley and around 2.000 on the littoral”.

On his turn, Gheorghe Racaru, general manager of Blue Air, declared that ”We’ve got involved in the project since we want to support the development of internal tourism, mainly of incoming. Only thus we will manage to collect more money from tourism, where new jobs are to be created. More dynamic, more innovative, better paid”.
A new ambassador for BIG FIVE


The South Africa Republic has a new Ambassador at Bucharest in the person of ES Thenjiwe Ethel Mtintso. On the occasion of an anniversary meeting, he presented to the audience – formed of members of diplomatic bodies accredited in our country, businessmen and journalists -, the economic and cultural advantages held by this nation. Among the attractive offers for Romanian we state as well the touristic potential, presented partly by the movie, folders and booklets distributed. The country of ”Big Five” enchains by the destinations such as the natural reservations, traditional areas KwaZulu-Natal, Western and Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Drakensberg Mountain, Limpopo, Gauteng or towns such as Durban, Cape Town, Port Elisabeth, Pretoria, Johannesburg etc.

NEW MANAGERS IN GDS

After more than two decades on Romanian market of electronic bookings, one has announced important changes on the level of the management of Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Travelport and Amadeus. Anca Stanese, the one who has built the business relation market for Woldspan, subsequent to Travelport (she occupied as well the position of manager for Central and East Europe of this corporation), withdrew from the company. The new manager who took over this position is Alina Ostahi who comes from the management of the company Western Union. She declared, on the occasion of a specialised symposium, organised in Bucharest, that her objective is to develop the implementation of new concepts of bookings created by Travelport, on autochthon market in full expansion. On its turn, Amadeus waive the services of the manager Razvan Antoni, who was replaced by Alina Craciun, who comes from the system, with experience in France.

CATALIN TRIFU is the new general manager of ROMEXPO

Catalin Trifu is the new General Manager of ROMEXPO SA, the largest company of events and exhibitions in Rumania. He replaces on this position Mariana Suciu. With an experience of over 20 years in the company, his scope is to stimulate and diversify the organisation of fairs and exhibitions. ”By the new executive management, we want to assign a dynamic note to the activity of the Expositional Centre ROMEXPO. We guarantee the same superior standards in terms of the organisation of events. I am honoured and at the same time bound by the trust invested in me. I have dedicated my entire professional activity to the organisation of fairs and exhibitions. It is time to use my entire experience for the development of the Expositional Centre ROMEXPO” – declares Catalin Trifu.

”Last Boat” – an occasion of touristic promotion

At the Romanian Cultural Institute from the Capital, it has been organised a cultural evening by the Embassy of Slovenia Republic at Bucharest. In a collaboration between the two institutions of public lectures and philology, it was presented a recital of Ljoba Jence, famous interpreter, relater and supporter of the traditional folkloric values of Slovenia. She recited and interpreted several fragments of popular works providing them modern versions. By the projection of the movie ”Last Boat” (produced by RTV Slovenia in 2005), which benefits of the evolution of the abovenamed artist, one has promoted the traditions of wood processing, in a magic region where there is a unique natural space – Cerknica lake.
